Time To Choose There are two ways to make decisions - from your head or from your heart. When you lead with your head, decisions are made based on what you know. Before you can come to any conclusions you need to gather more information until you feel you have enough from which to base your decision. This can result in making lists of the pros and cons, looking at all the options to get the whole picture or drawing conclusions. Your intellect tries to discern what would be logical, what would make sense. Leading with your heart has a completely different feel. It is referred to as listening to your gut instinct, your subconscious mind, your inner spirit. Instead of fact-finding, you turn within, ask yourself a question and then listen for the answer. Hearing the answer requires quieting the mind. This can be as simple as sitting silently, breathing deeply and focusing on your breath. Some are able to ask themselves a question before falling asleep and then awake with the solution. Other times the answer comes as a feeling of "knowing" - as though you were given the answer. In my life, I often use a combination of both of these methods. In International Banking as a Project Manager, most of my decisions had to be fact based. What I found useful though, was to look for an answer from within and then back it up with the appropriate information or data. It often led to quicker conclusions. In my personal life, I find myself feeling happier when I lead with my heart. I approach life with a more loving attitude and things seem to go more smoothly - from my relationships to everyday mundane tasks. When you find yourself leading strictly with your head, see if you can let go and see what your heart has to say. You may just change your mind.
