Equal Weighting Most of us seek balance in our lives. When we spend too much time at work, our personal life suffers. Often after a busy period at work, we realize we haven't spent enough time with our families and friends. The time we set aside for exercise or doing things for ourselves is pushed to the side. We then feel we need to make a change. Where does this feeling come from? Might it come from a sense of responsibility? From comments made by others? Or from a feeling within you? The universe exists in a state of balance. All around us is an interplay of opposites - hot/cold, high/low, fast/slow, on/off - work/family. It is in between the opposites that balance is found. The universe always corrects itself to achieve balance. And from this comes the feeling of balance for us. When we own this desire to live a balanced life, we can make it happen. Each of us usually knows what we need to do to create it. Often it is a matter of making a commitment and sticking to it. The one action that has the biggest impact for me is scheduling my time. It works beautifully at work - I schedule appointments with my clients, plan meetings, devote time to marketing and administration - all within business hours. So in my personal life, I set up a similar schedule so that I have designated time for myself, my family and my friends. What one action can you take to create more balance in your life? |
